The most dramatic pairing

The Night Scholar and The Feral Romantic: 58%, a dangerous attraction. You both guard your solitude, so neither of you will ever drag the other to a party. One of you feels everything and the other thinks everything through: you balance each other or drive each other mad.

Vampires in pairs and families

In folklore vampires rarely stayed alone. In the case of Arnold Paole, reported from the Serbian village of Medveđa in 1732, a man believed to have been attacked by a vampire was said to have become one himself, and his victims after him, until an Austrian army surgeon had the graves opened. Literature kept them in company too: Le Fanu's Carmilla travels with a mysterious woman who calls herself her mother, and Stoker's Count keeps three vampire women in his castle.

How the score works

Each of the 18 types has four traits: how much company it loves, how much it plans, how strongly it feels and how much it loves the old ways. Shared feelings count most, then shared traditions. One planner and one improviser make a good team, and every pair of creatures gets a small bonus or penalty of its own. The result is a match from 41 to 98 percent, and the same two types always get the same score. Test any two creatures.
