All six wolf types

  • The Moon Howler personality card: a werewolf howling at a huge full moon from a hilltop

    The Moon Howler

Every full moon is your stage.

You feel everything at full volume and you are never afraid to say it out loud. When you howl, the whole valley answers, and half of it sings along.

    Bitten 1820–1890
  • The Lone Wolf personality card: a werewolf in a long coat carrying a lantern along an empty road at night

    The Lone Wolf

You run alone, and you like it that way.

You have crossed more borders than most packs will ever see. You trust your nose, your instincts and nobody else, though you always come back for the ones who matter.

    Bitten 1700–1780
  • The Pack Guardian personality card: a werewolf with a spear and a paw-print shield guarding a glowing cave

    The Pack Guardian

    Nobody touches your pack.

You are the first to stand up and the last to sleep. Your pack knows that while you are awake, nothing in the forest can reach them.

    Bitten 1600–1690
  • The Shadow Stalker personality card: a crouching werewolf with glowing eyes in a dark pine forest

    The Shadow Stalker

You were watching long before they noticed.

Patient, quiet and very hard to surprise, you read the forest like a book. By the time anyone hears you coming, you have already won.

    Bitten 1500–1590
  • The Wild Heart personality card: a werewolf leaping through a stormy meadow with lightning and fireflies

    The Wild Heart

    Half chaos, all heart.

You chase storms for fun, befriend every creature you meet and turn every hunt into a game. The pack calls you trouble, and the pack would be bored without you.

    Bitten 1900–1960
  • The Ancient Grey personality card: an old grey werewolf in a cloak with a glowing staff on a snowy mountain

    The Ancient Grey

Calm as snow, dangerous as winter.

You have seen a thousand winters and you are in no hurry to prove anything. Young wolves come to you for advice, and old enemies still remember why they left.

    Bitten 1100–1300

How the quiz decides your wolf type

Each of the seven questions has four answers, and every answer gives points to one or two wolf types. The wolf type with the most points is yours. A lore trial in three difficulties then decides your rank: Pup, Scout, Hunter, Beta, Alpha, Pack Elder, Moonborn. Only the hard trial reaches the two highest ranks.

Werewolves in folklore

Werewolf legends are older than vampire legends. Greek myth tells of King Lycaon, turned into a wolf by Zeus, which gave us the word lycanthropy. Slovaks speak of the vlkolak, South Slavs of the vukodlak and the French of the loup-garou. History left darker traces too: the werewolf trial of Peter Stumpp in Bedburg in 1589 and the Beast of Gévaudan, which terrorised southern France from 1764 to 1767. Our six wolf types borrow from all of them.
